Fatehgarh Sahib, August 22: To make the state open- defecation free, the government will construct 1,17,645 toilets in all municipal areas by 2019.
Announcing this here today, Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu said the government had also prepared a comprehensive plan to provide drinking water to each household by March 2019. He said they would set up 500 RO plants in areas, where water was not fit for drinking.Sidhu said reservation for women in the municipal councils and corporations had been increased from 30 per cent to 50 per cent. He said the Directorate of Fire Services would be set up soon to regularise the functioning of fire brigades in 10 municipal corporations and 155 local government organisations.PPCC president Sunil Jakhar said to check unemployment, the government had decided to set up employment bureaus in every district. The first mega job fair was being organised in Mohali. He announced that job fairs would also be organised in every district.
