New Delhi, January 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the 10 per cent reservation to economically weaker sections had filled the people with new hope and energy.
Addressing the BJP’s national convention at the Ramlila Maidan here, Modi said that in the past four and a half years, the way the Central government had functioned and the way they had established governments in 16 states, people were confident that only the BJP could give a stable government in the country.
“There is not even a single charge of corruption against us in contrast to the 10 years before our government that were crippled by corruption,” he said.
Had Sardar Patel been the Prime Minister, India would have been at a different level, he added.
“The BJP government is functioning on ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’. To work for India’s supermacy is the duty of all members of the BJP,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister said that to ensure equal opportunity and social justice, the general categories could not be ignored.
He said 10 per cent seats would also be increased in education.
The PM said, “When we talk of the situation of farmers we should also take into consideration their situation earlier. We are trying to make ‘annadaata; into ‘urjadaata’, he said.
“Chowkidaar uthnewala nahi hai, this is just the beginning,” the Prime Minister said in response to Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s repeated attacks against him with the slogan ‘Chowkidaar chor hai’.
“You can wake up a person who is sleeping but there is no way to wake up someone who is awake,” he said.
