113 Indians stranded at Schipol Airport in Amsterdam to land in India tonight

Date:

Chandigarh, March 22: Requesting fellow countrymen to maintain social distancing and follow Government guidelines in wake of COVID-19 outbreak, the Sports, Youth Services and NRI Affairs Minister, Punjab, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi today expressed solidarity with 113 Indians returning from US stranded at Schipol Airport (Amsterdam).

Expressing gratitude to Union Government and PM Narendra Modi to take prompt decision to bring back these Indian Nationals, Rana Sodhi divulged that Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and he himself proactively took the matter with Union Government and met various ministers including Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Puri.

He said that Union Government not only acknowledged their strenuous efforts in this regard and also promised to bring back these innocent Indians.

Pertinently, these Indian nationals were stranded at Amsterdam Airport amid Corona Virus scare and had urged the government to rescue them. They alleged that authorities did not allow their flight to land, when it was just two hours away from New Delhi Airport and the flight of these passengers turned back mid air.

Earlier, all international flights have been banned from entering the Indian airspace amid the spreading of Corona Virus. Now the Union Government has allowed them to enter India as a special case after Punjab Government took up the matter with the Union Government.
