12-year-old raped; accused boy, girl booked

Date:

Tarn Taran, June 22: A boy and a girl of Jhander Mahanpurkhan village, 30 km from Tarn Taran, have been booked under Sections 376 and 120-B of the IPC and Sections 3 and 4 of the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, by the Goindwal Sahib police for their alleged involvement in the rape case of a 12-year-old girl of the same village.

The incident occurred a week back but the victim’s family recorded a police statement on Thursday. The girl’s mother, in her complaint to the police, said she had gone to the nearby Fatehabad township for some medical treatment and her daughter was alone at home at the time of incident.

The accused girl took the victim girl to her house where the boy was already present. He took her to a room and raped her.

The accused ran away from the spot after committing the crime. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Darshan Singh Mann said the accused were absconding and raids were on to arrest them.
