13 left in fray for bypoll, Laddi namesake out

Jalandhar, May 11: After a scrutiny by the Returning Officer-cum-SDM Jagjit Singh, 13 candidates are left in fray for the May 28 bypoll. The papers of Independent candidate Hardev Singh, a namesake of Congress candidate, were rejected.

“He had not submitted an additional affidavit for no dues and instead gave a self-declaration,” the RO said.

Objection against Laddi by SAD and AAP for not mentioning the FIR in the papers was rejected. Laddi’s counsel Harpreet Sandhu said: “It was mentioned in the additional affidavit.” The 13 in fray are Hardev Singh Laddi (Congress), Naib Singh (SAD), Rattan Singh (AAP), Satnam Singh (BSP Ambedkar), Sulakhan Singh (SAD-A), Parmjot (Democratic Bhartiya Samaj Party) and Independents Satpal Singh, Kashmir Singh, Gurmit Singh, Naib Singh, Manohar Lal, Malkit Singh and Rajesh Kumar.
