15305 Candidates filed Nomination papers for General/Bye Elections of Municipal Corporations

A total number of 15305 candidates filed Nomination papers for General/Bye Elections of 08 Municipal Corporations and 109 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats.

Disclosing this here today, Spokesperson of the State Election Commissioner, Punjab, said that on the last of day filing nomination papers, a total 15305 candidates filed nomination papers for 2302 wards in the State. Out of which 1652 of Congress, 670 of Bhartiya Janata Party, 1526 of Shiromani Akali Dal, 1155 of Aam Aadmi Party, 102 of Bahujan Samaj Party, 7 of P.D.P. and 10193 independent candidates filed their nomination papers.

He said that 417 candidates for Municipal Corporation, Bathinda, 388 for Abohar, 420 for Batala, 343 for Hoshiarpur, 577 for Moga, 336 for Pathankot, 419 for S.A.S. Nagar, 318 for Kapurthala have filed their nomination papers. Apart from this, 11 candidates filed nomination papers for Ward No.37 of Amritsar Corporation.

He further said that for Municipal Councils/Nagar Panchayats in Ajnala 140 , Ramdas 109, Rayya 88, Majitha 75, Jandiala Guru 157 of district Amritsar and in Bathinda District Bhucho Mandi 52, Goniana 79, Maur 116 ,Rama 92, Kotfatta 33, Sangat 46 , Kotha Guru 52, Mehraj 59, Kot Samir 50, Lehra Mohabbat 11, Bhai Roopa 63, Maluka 39, Bhagta Bhai Ka 63, Nathana 62 and in Barnala District Barnala 403, Tapa 140, Bhadaur 132 , Dhanaula 99 , In Faridkot District, Faridkot 153, Kotkapura 216, Jaiton 146 , In Ferozepur District, Ferozepur 193, Guruhar Sahai 58, Zira 42, Talwandi Bhai 96, Mudki 80, Mamdot 83, in Fazilka District, Fazilka 296, Jalalabad 166, Arniwala Shekhsubhan 76. Likewise, for Bye elections in Ward number-1 (Women) and Ward number-11 (SC) of Mahilpur 10 candidates filed nomination papers, Ward No. 1 of Talwara of Hoshiarpur District 7 candidates, and in Ward number 8 (General) of Mullanpur Dakha 2, , Ward Number 6 of Sahnewal in Ludhiana District 6 candidates and Ward No. 12 of Amloh in District Fatehgarh Sahib 9 candidates filed their nomination papers.
