19/21 milk plants now functional, rest by April 1: Govt

19 MILK PLANTS NOW FUNCTIONAL IN PUNJAB, CM ORDERS REMAINING 2 ALSO TO BE MADE OPERATIONAL

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 29: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Sunday directed the Cooperation Department to ensure that all milk plants in the state are made operational so that milk producers and dairy farmers are not put to any hardship or inconvenience during the curfew/lockdown period in view of corona virus. 

While 19 milk plants have already been made operational, the remaining two will become operational from April 1, according to an official spokesperson.

The milk plants that have already become operational in the state are: M/s Nestle India Ltd, Moga with daily average milk handling capacity of 15 lac litres; Aneja food Pvt. Ltd. Village Badbar, Distt. Barnala (4 lakh litres);  Aneja Foods Products, Mehta Road, Amritsar (2 lakh litres); M/s Nutricia International Pvt. Ltd. Ambala Chandigarh Road, Sarsini, PO Lalru, (Mohali) (80,000 litres); M/s Supreme Agro Foods Ltd. Ludhiana (1.5 lakh litre); M/s Metro Milk Products, Kapurthala Road, Jalandhar (60,000 litres);  M/s Bharat Milk Food Pvt. Ltd, Kotakpura, Faridkot (50,000 litres); M/s Chanakya Dairy Products, Gobindgarh, Fatehgarh Sahib (2.5 lakh litres); M/s Rana Milk Foods Pvt. Ltd. Samrala, Ludhiana (3.5 lakh litres); M/s Pure Milk Products Ltd. Alamgir, Ludhiana (70,000 litres); M/s Macro Dairy Ventures (Pvt) Ltd. Village  Latala, Distt. Ludhiana (1.50 lakh litres); M/s Angad Milk Food Village Panjwar, Tarn Taran (2 lakh litres); M/s Sekhri Milk products, Batala, District Gurdaspur (2 lakh litres); M/s Shivalik Foods(India) Chanallon, Kurali (Mohali) (70,000 litres); M/s Mehak Food Ltd. Village Thatta, Tarn Taran (1 lakh litres); M/s MCT Milk Plant, Nihal Singh Wala, Moga (1 lakh litres); M/s Narayan Agro Foods Ltd. Focal Point Kotkapura, Faridkot (1 lakh litres); M/s K. B. Rishi, Agro Milk Specialists Village Challan,Samrala (5,000 litres) and M/s Punjab Foods, Nijjerpura, Amritsar (2 lakh litres).

Apart from these, M/s Glaxo Smithkline Beecham Ltd. Nabha (Patiala), which has been taken over by Hindustan Unilever Limited, with average daily milk handling capacity (2 lakh litres), and M/s Jagatjit Industries Ltd. Hamira, Kapurthala, with capacity of 3.5 lakh litres would start operations from April 1, 2020.
