Date:

Amritsar, July 6: Three women were found murdered at their house in Mukhowal village under the Ramdass police station here on Thursday. The police said they were strangled by some unknown persons though the police suspect the role of an insider.

Neighbours said they were last seen on Tuesday. When the villagers did not see them for the last two days and foul smell started emanating from the house, they opened the house on Thursday and found them dead.

Senior police officials reached the spot and started investigations. A case of murder has been registered.

Parampal Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar rural, said Kartar Kaur had three sons — Gurdayal Singh, Kulwant Singh an Jaswinder Singh. While Gurdayal Singh was in Rishikesh, her other two sons had died. Jaswinder has two sons Amarbir Singh and Parneet Singh who also lived in the same village.

“The deceased had strangulation marks around their neck. There was no forced entry in the house,” said the SSP.

As per a preliminary probe, the police said Kartar had a land dispute with her grandsons Amarbir and Parneet though nothing concrete could be said about who killed the women. Forensic and technical teams were pressed into service.
