30 fraud cases against travel agents

Patiala, September 5: The district police have registered cases against 30 illegal travel agents under the Punjab Provision of Human Smuggling Act at various police stations in the city.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mandeep Singh Sidhu on Tuesday said the district police had registered more than 30 cases from mid-July till August 31.

The SSP said: “Our team found that some travel agents have robbed some people of Rs 2.92 crore. We have registered cases against all of them and strict action will be taken against them.” The SSP said the police had been directed to nab the accused in all cases and recover the amount fleeced.
