30 trains delayed due to fog in Punjab, Haryana

Date:

Chandigarh, November 8: Heavy fog in parts of Punjab and Haryana threw the railway traffic out of gear, delaying 30 trains.
The Delhi- Kalka Shatabdi Express, Himalayan Express, Sadbhawana Express and trains from Amritsar and Ferozepur were delayed for over three hours.

The Chandigarh-Lucknow, Bandra – Chandigarh Super Fast Express, Chandigarh- Amb Andaura and the Paschim Express ran late by an hour and half.
As the trains were running late due to fog, anxious passengers made a beeline at the office of Station Superintendent TP Singh to know their status.

“I am to catch a flight at 3 am on November 9. I preferred the evening Shatabdi, which leaves the station at 6:45 pm and reaches Delhi around midnight. Due to fog, all the trains are running late. I have no clue whether I will be able to make it before the check-in,” said a city residents at the office of the Station Superintendent.

The Kalka Shatabdi, which was schedule to arrive at 10.45 am, reached the station at 1.45 pm. Harried passengers complained about heavy fog in Panipat and Karnal.

“There was zero visibility in Haryana. The train was moving at a snail’s pace. The delay of over three hours is too much. I am running short of time and have to rush back in the evening Shatabdi,” said Tarun Kumar from Delhi.
Commuters form Ferozepur and Amritsar were equally harassed. There was a lot of fog and the trains stopped at many places and kept waiting for the signal.

However, there were many passengers who did not complain about the delay. “Safety comes first. So many accidents are taking place on the National Highway No.1 due to fog. It is wise that the Railways did not put the life of passengers in danger in order to meet the schedule. Better late then never,” said Vaibhav. Railway traffic in-charge JP Singh said nearly 30 trains, including all superfast and passengers, were delayed due to fog.
