Mandi, October 3: The Kullu administration is all geared up for weeklong Dasehra festival which will kickstart on October 19. The festival will continue up to October 25. The district administration has invited 305 deities of Kullu district to take part in the event.
Transport Minister Govind Singh Thakur conducted a meeting with the district administration to review the preparations for the festival. International cultural troupes will be invited to entertain the audience during the seven-day cultural program to be held at Lal Chand Prarthi Kala Kendra Kullu.
The minister stated that Desehra festival was an important event of the state and efforts would be made for its successful conduct. Sports activities, apart from cultural programs, will be organized.
The main attraction of the event will be Natti based on Nari Garima theme on October 23 in which a large number of women attired in traditional costumes from across district will take part. Nari Garima is a campaign initiated by the district administration Kullu to end discrimination against women in society. The Natti will be dedicated to respect of women and making them aware of their rights.
The minister directed the district administration to work in a fair manner for selecting artistes and allocating plots for business stalls. He asked the authorities concerned to ensure proper arrangements of electricity, water supply, cleanliness and maintenance of roads for the purpose.
