18 NOMINATION PAPERS REJECTED DURING SCRUTINY
Chandigarh, October 1: A total of 18 nomination papers were rejected during the scrutiny of nomination papers for by-elections to four Assembly constituencies, where the voting will be held on October 21.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the Office of Chief Electoral Office, Punjab, said 16 candidates had filed nomination papers for Phagwara assembly constituency, out of which 10 nomination papers were found valid.
Similarly, 11 candidates had filed their nomination papers for Mukerian assembly constituency, out of which 5 nomination papers have been rejected and 6 found correct.
Likewise, 16 candidates filed nominations for Dakha assembly constituency, of which 4 nominations papers have been rejected. He said that 11 candidates had filed their nominations papers for Jalalabad assembly constituency, from which 8 nominations have been found correct.
In effect, 36 nomination papers have been found to be correct out of total 54 nomination papers filed for four assembly constituencies after today’s scrutiny process.
October 3 is the last date to withdraw nomination and after withdrawal process election symbols will be allotted to the candidates.
