Novel move: Special screening of Chhapaak for acid-attack survivors

Chandigarh, January 9: The Social Security, Women and Child Development Department, Punjab, under the visionary guidance of Cabinet Minister Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary has undertaken a unique initiative aimed at women empowerment in collaboration with the Dhillon plaza, Zirakpur.

Disclosing this today, an official spokesman said that a special screening of the movie CHHAPAAK would be hosted by the department for the acid attack surviving women on 11th January, 2020 at INOX Dhillon plaza at 11:30 am. The spokesman further elaborated that the main rationale behind the screening is to ensure the safe and secure public places for women besides sensitizing the people in this regard.

The spokesman said the department is providing financial assistance of Rs.8000 per month to the women who have been the victims of acid attacks.
