Chandigarh, January 23: Punjab Local Government Minister Mr. Brahm Mohindra today directed the higher officials of the department to expedite the progress of setting up of Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) at Naya Gaon in district SAS Nagar.
In a high level meeting to review the progress of development works carried out in Naya Gaon village here at Local Body Bhawan, Mr. Manish Tewari, Member Parliament from Sri Anandpur Sahib, Mr. Kanwar Sandhu, MLA Kharar, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Local Government, Mr. Bhupinder Singh, Director, Local Bodies Department and senior congress leader and former Minister Mr. Jagmohan Singh Kang and congress leader Mr. Ravinder Pal Singh were present.
Mr. Mohindra reiterated that development of villages is the priority of the state government and inclusive development of Naya Gaon would be ensured by all means. He directed the officials to hold talks with Finance department to earmark the budgetary requirements for laying of sewerage system and Rs.73 crore for the construction of STP in the village.
Apprising the minister, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary said that process to identify the land for setting up of STP is underway and dedicated land would be selected soon. “The problem of garbage disposal in village has been resolved and administration machinery is consistently collecting garbage since four days”, acquainted the additional secretary.
MP Mr. Tewari and MLA Mr. Sandhu have raised the issue of charges for building plan in the village and demanded that the fee structure should be rationalized. The issue of high tension wire is also discussed threadbare during the meeting.
