CoWIN, India’s indigenously developed digital vaccine delivery platform is all set to go places.
As many as 50 countries of Central Asia, Latin America and Africa have contacted the Government of India for help to understand CoWIN technology.
Chairman of the empowered group on Covid vaccine delivery platform RS Sharma said the government was gearing up to help those who have sought CoWIN technology.
“CoWIN has become popular. Over 50 countries from across Central Asia, Latin America and Africa, are interested in this technology,” he said.
Sharma said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had directed the IT responders of India to create an open-source version of CoWIN free of cost to any interested country.
CoWIN portal is now available in 12 languages to ensure everyone can register and get vaccinated.
Built for scale, CoWIN glided through the incoming traffic on June 21, 2021, (the day India launched free vaccine for all adults drive) as it hit a peak of 1.83 million API calls per minute at 12:04 pm.
This meant handling over 30,000 API calls per second.
Application Programming Interface tests digital system efficacy and is defined as a set of protocols, procedures, and tools that allow interaction between two applications.
