The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is constantly striving for the welfare of every section of the state. Working in this direction, Labor, Grievance Redressal, Investment Promotion, Tourism and Cultural Affairs, and Hospitality Minister Anmol Gagan Mann said that the state government has organized 655 awareness camps at districts level during the past 11 months to sensitize about Government welfare schemes and register construction workers through the Punjab Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
Giving more information in this regard, the minister told that 7708 construction workers have been registered with the PBCWW Board during the 655 awareness camps by including which 6.42 lakh live construction workers are now eligible to avail the benefits of various schemes of the Board.
The Minister said that the schemes of the Punjab Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board include Wazifa Scheme, Shagan Scheme, Exgratia Scheme, providing spectacles, dental and hearing aids and other schemes. She explained said that any construction worker who has worked as a construction worker for more than 90 days in the last 12 months and whose age is between 18-60 years can become a beneficiary. She said that the construction worker can go to the nearest Suvidha Centre and get his/her registration done.
Apart from this, minister further informed that a mobile app “Punjab Kirti Sahayak” has already been launched with the aim of providing great convenience to the construction workers. She said that with this mobile app, the construction worker need not go to the Suvidha Centre, instead, he/she can get himself registered using his mobile phone and take advantage of the welfare schemes of the government, saving him from the loss of his daily wages.
The minister said that more awareness camps will be organized at the district level from time to time for the welfare of the construction workers in the future as well.
