Ambala, December 29: Seven people, including two minors, were killed and three others injured after their vehicle was hit by an unidentified vehicle near the Drive In-22 resort here in the wee hours of Saturday.
The victims were on their way from Chandigarh to Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh.
The deceased have been identified as Kavita (36), Ranjana (18), Asha Rani (46), Harshita (9), Piyush (5), and driver Suresh (45).
The injured–Palak, Sunita and Renuka–were taken to the Civil Hospital here, where they were referred to the PGI, Chandigarh.
According to information, the victims were travelling in two vehicles from Chandigarh and one of the vehicles developed a snag. Meanwhile, a heavy vehicle hit it from behind and fled.
Police reached the spot and the matter is being investigated.
Eight persons had died in a massive pile-up of vehicles in thick fog in Haryana’s Jhajjar district on Monday.
Dense fog has been prevailing over most parts of Haryana and Punjab in the past few days, especially along highways.
The region has been experiencing cold wave conditions for over a week.
