9-year-old girl sexually abused in Moga village

Moga July 9: A nine-year-old migrant girl was sexually assaulted by a youth at Badhni Kalan village in Moga district, police said on Monday.

Investigating officer ASI Manpreet Kaur said a case under Sections 376 and 511 of the IPC and under the POCSO Act had been registered against Bablu Singh of Sitamarhi in Bihar at the Badhni Kalan police station.

The police said the medical examination of the girl confirmed that she was sexually abused, after which the case was registered. Meanwhile, the girl was undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The girl’s mother told the police that her daughter was dragged into the fields near their residence and was sexually abused in the fields.

The ASI said Bablu was absconding after the incident. The police had carried out raids at his residence and other possible hideouts and he would be arrested soon, the ASI said.
