Registration is now open with the Peel District School Board (PDSB) for kindergarten, starting in September 2021.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to enroll children born in 2017, and those born in 2016 who didn’t attend this year due to COVID-19.
“At the Peel District School Board, Kindergarten is a place to play, wonder and learn,” said the PDSB in a release, directing families to use the Find Your School tool on the website to figure out which location their child will attend.
Families are asked to register by signing onto the PDSB portal and provide a few documents.
Applications require proof of the child’s name and age, which can be a birth certificate, citizenship card, residency card, a status certificate through Indigenous Services Canada, or a refugee.
The board also requires proof of address, which can be through a proof of purchase on a house, a current tax bill or MPAC assessment, a utility bill, a bank statement or government document.
Proof of citizenship and proof of custody and proof of immunization are also required.
Once submitted, the school will contact the family.
There will be an online information session for parents and guardians of children with special needs on Jan. 14 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
