Aadhaar compulsory in Punjab for land registration

Date:

Chandigarh, Dec 14: The Punjab government has made it mandatory to record Aadhaar number for registration of all documents at the sub-registrar and the joint sub-registrar offices.Registration of sale deeds of property, transfer of property, registration of wills, marriages, registration of mortgage deeds — will require the recording of the Aadhaar number of executants/parties. The order will come into force with immediate effect.

Financial Commissioner (Revenue) Vini  Mahajan said the orders to this effect had been passed by the Chief Minister. “We have decided to make Aadhaar linkage must in order to curtail frauds in registration of all types of documents,” she said. With this, Punjab is among the few states, besides Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Goa, that have made linking of Aadhaar mandatory.
