AAP condemns cane-charging, use of water cannons by police on farmers marching towards Raj Bhawan

Date:

Chandigarh, June 26

Terming it as an atrocity on the ‘annadatas’, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has condemned the cane-charging and use of water cannons by the police on the farmers of Punjab and Haryana, who were protesting against the centre’s black farm laws and were marching towards Chandigarh to submit a memorandum to the Governor. In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Saturday, AAP state president and Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Captain Amarinder Singh were working in collusion to destroy the farmers of Punjab under a common agenda. He said that the Congress and SAD-BJP had for a long time been trying to grab the lands of poor farmers by destroying the farmers of Punjab.

Lashing out at Captain Amarinder Singh, Mann said that instead of supporting the farmers, Captain’s police had used water cannons on the peaceful protesting farmers in Mohali which was highly reprehensible. He asked why Captain Amarinder Singh, who had been visiting the ‘Delhi Darbar’ for the last two months to save his seat, had not yet gone to Delhi to convey the voice of the farmers to Modi. Mann said that as the Chief Minister of Punjab he should immediately go to Delhi and talk to Narendra Modi and get the black laws repealed.
