Chandigarh, May 9
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and Kisan Wing president Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Sunday said that in the case of desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and killing of two Sikhs following the firing, the Congress leaders of Punjab were only making statements and were trying to mislead the people of Punja and the sangat. Sandhwan appealed to the Congress leaders that if they want to give justice in the sacrilege case, then they should take a tough decision instead of rhetoric and go to the Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly and withdraw the support given to Captain Amarinder Singh’s government. He said that the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib was done under a conspiracy in Bargari during the rule of Akali Dal Badal.
Sandhwan said that the police opened fire on Sikh community protesting peacefully against the desecration, in which two Sikh youths were killed. He said that Captain Amarinder Singh had promised the people of Punjab during the Punjab Assembly elections in 2017 that if Congress government was formed in Punjab, the conspirators of desecration to Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and the murderers of the Sikh youths would be punished. “The Congress party government in Punjab has been in power for more than four years, but not a single culprit has been convicted,” he added.
The AAP leader said that in serious cases like sacrilege and firing, some Congress leaders opposing the government for not giving justice in the cases were only making shallow statements; fighting to save their seats. “They only love their chair, because these Congress leaders, on one hand curse the government of Captain Amarinder Singh every day and on the other hand, they are supporting this government,” said Sandhwan. He said that if these Congress leaders have any remorse for the insult to the Guru and the killing of Sikhs, then they should resign from the government of the Congress party led by Captain Amarinder Singh and stand in favor of the Guru.
