Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab criticized the Congress government on the issue of barcode on BPL cards and said that poor people have to go to the houses of congress MLAs and leaders to get a sticker of barcode on their cards so that they can get ration. In a statement issued from the party headquarters on Sunday AAP leader and MLA Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer slammed the move of Congress and alleged them of misusing the power against the people, invested in them by the same people through voting.
Meet Hayer said, “Before coming to power in 2017, Congress party promised the Moon to the people, but after forming the government they brushed off each one of their promises. Instead of providing employment, free plots etc. they cancelled lakhs of BPL cards of poor families.” He alleged that Congress has crossed the line of shamelessness as people have to go to the houses of Cong MLAs and leaders to get Barcode sticker. He questioned that if a person does not support Congress party will he be denied from his ration rights now? He further said that such things should not be politicized. It is like the Congress government has no regard for the poor people of Punjab.
He warned Congress that people won’t forget such misdeeds and will hold them accountable in upcoming elections. Taking a dig at Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi he said, “CM Channi talks on and on about being poor and common man, then treat poor people of state like this.” He added that people should be facilitate and provided basic amenities, regardless of their political affiliation.
Comparing the governance of Channi and Kejriwal Meet Hayer said that Delhi government is trying their best to make lives of common people easy by providing essential paperwork services to their doorsteps. But, here Channi government is taking advantage of people’s financial status for their political agendas.
