Chandigarh, September 28: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab reacted sharply to the sudden resignation of Punjab Pradesh Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu, stating that the Congress leaders were insulting Punjab and the people in their fight for the chair.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Tuesday, AAP Punjab president and Member of Parliament, Bhagwant Mann said the Congress had crossed all limits in the battle for chair and pride.
Bhagwant Mann said, “Punjab has never been so disgraced. Punjab and the people have been made miserable by injecting stigma every morning and evening. The appetite for their chair can embarrass anyone. I pray to God to rid Punjab and Punjabis of these chair-hungry Congressmen.”
He further said that today the restoration of Punjab’s honor and dignity is in the hands of the people of Punjab. “Like the Badals, the Congress has no right to stay in power even for a minute. The time has come to uproot them. The only party left in Punjab politics today is the Aam Aadmi Party that the people can trust; as it has proved its credibility for the third time in a row in Delhi,” said Mann.
Bhagwant Mann said the Congress has no hope for the betterment of Punjab, because it has a Congress culture where the Congressmen fight not for the people but for their chair. “The ruling Congress in Punjab is the latest example,” he added.
The AAP leader remarked that if even today the Congress gives a separate chair of ‘Super CM’ to Navjot Singh Sidhu, then Navjot Singh Sidhu will calm down immediately.
He said if Sidhu had really been a Punjab benevolent, he would have resigned when the list of tainted ministers like Rana Gurjit Singh, Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Gurkirat Singh Kotli and Raja Warring was being prepared for the new cabinet.
