Chandigarh, May 25
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on Tuesday launched a ‘Doctor Helpline‘ campaign to provide medical aid to the people of the state in the difficult times of Covid-19 pandemic. Under this campaign a helpline number 782-727-5743 has been launched for the people of Punjab, through which one can get information about prevention and treatment of Covid virus. The campaign was launched by MLA and Youth Wing president Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, state president of AAP’s medical wing Dr Ravjot, vice-president Dr Charanjit Singh Channi and Dr Sanjeev Sharma, during a press conference convened at the party headquarters here by the party’s Medical Wing.
Addressing the media, Meet Hayer said that the people of Punjab can call the helpline number 782-727-5743 issued by the Medical Wing of the AAP to get information and help from the doctors about the prevention and treatment of Covid pandemic. Taking a dig at the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government, Hayer alleged that the Captain government had failed to save the people from the Covid pandemic. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party is involved in every sorrow and happiness of the people of Punjab and that is why this special helpline campaign has been launched by the medical wing of the AAP.
On the occasion, Dr Ravjot Singh alleged that the Punjab government was not serious about the vaccine against Covid virus as there was a severe shortage of vaccine in the state. Questioning the Captain government, he asked as to how the people can be protected from Covid infection without vaccines. Similarly, Dr Sanjeev Sharma said that along with Covid virus, cases of black fungus were also on the rise. “But not everyone needs to be afraid of the effects of black fungus, because only people with certain comorbidities can be affected by black fungus,” he added.
Dr Sanjeev Sharma said that the Captain government had started the recruitment process of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff in Covid pandemic, which has not been completed yet. Meanwhile, slamming Captain Amarinder Singh, Dr Charanjit Singh Channi said that the Punjab Chief Minister was also playing tricks. “On one hand Captain Amarinder Singh announced a grant of Rs 10 lakh for an entire village getting fully vaccinated, while on the other hand, the Punjab government does not have the required amount of vaccines,” he added. He said that if the Punjab government had been serious, the number of deaths due to Covid would have been less.
