AAP marks anniversary of demonetization day as ‘Dhokha Diwas’

Date:

Chandigarh, November 8: Aftercompletion of 1 year of demonetization, Aam Aadmi Party on November 8 marked the day as ‘Dhokha Diwas’ and criticized Modi government for taking an unwise step that affected crores of Indians in a negative way.

In a joint press release, AAP state president Bhagwant Mann, Leader of opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira and Co-president Aman Arora said that it was one of the worst decisions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the time when economic growth was already low and industrialists, farmers and other communities were struggling to get their pace. AAP leaders and volunteers along with farmers and industrialists protested on the different place throughout state.

Bhagwant Mann said that ruling BJP and Prime Minister Modi must tell the nation what benefit common people have got from this decision taken in haste. The claims of Modi that demonetization will bring back black money, help to curb terrorism and revival of economy etc. have fallen flat as per the latest reports. As per the report of South-Asia Terrorism Portal, 649 people have died in terrorist activities in last one year. The Reserve Bank of India itself declared that 99% of banned notes of 500 and 1000 were submitted in the banks. On the other hand, the economy of country has even worsened with the decision.

Sukhpal Khaira said the decision of demonetization has affected the agriculture sector to a large extent as the farmers’ deals in hard cash rather than plastic money. The farmer community is already passing through bad phase and committing suicides so the decision of demonetization has further weakened the community. The potato growers were affected badly as no buyer was ready to buy the crop and 60% of crop is lying in cold stores.

Aman Arora said the decision has further deepened the crisis of unemployment and the eligible youth is roaming without jobs. The unorganized sector has reported 94% loss of business with the decision and MNCs and other big companies have employed 45% less people. Arora said AAP opposed the decision at that time and still feels that it was a bad decision imposed on the people of country.
