AAP MLA injured as mining mafia assaults him in Ropar

Date:

Ropar, June 21: Ropar’s AAP MLA Amarjit Singh Sandoa was on Thursday injured in an attack by mining mafia as he tried to stop illegal mining at Beihara village near here.

Sandoa was hit by a stone on the chest and was admitted to an Anandpur Sahib hospital.

According to information, the MLA, along with a few media persons, had gone to the quarry in the afternoon to expose illegal mining prevalent in the area.

The mafia came to know of this and all machines and vehicles were spirited off from the place before the MLA and party reached the spot.

As soon as they reached the quarry, mafia goons attacked them with wooden planks, iron rods and stones. The MLA’s gunman was also roughed up.

The doctors at the hospital referred Sandoa to the PGI after the latter complained of chest pain.
