Aam Aadmi Party senior leader and Rajya Sabha member from Punjab Raghav Chadha on Thursday raised the issue of development of Sri Anandpur Sahib, an important city associated with Sikh community, in the Rajya Sabha and demanded to give it the status of ‘Heritage City’.
During the question hour on Thursday, the AAP MP said that his question today is related to the faith of millions of people in the country and the world. Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib located in Sri Anandpur Sahib, Punjab is the holy place where Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji founded the Khalsa Panth on 13th April 1699. A large number of devotees come here every year to pay obeisance to Guru Sahib. Hola Mahalla is celebrated here with devotion and lakhs of Sikh devotees visit.
Chadha questioned the Union Minister that what steps are being taken to develop this city as ‘Heritage City’ to Sri Anandpur Sahib by allocating special funds to make it a world famous heritage city?
Meanwhile, MP Raghav Chadha received a positive response from Union current tourism minister G. Kishan Reddy and assured to look into the proposal.
