AAP slams BJP government for ‘Agnipath’ scheme, demands immediate rollback

Date:

Chandigarh, June 17: Terming the decision of implementing the radical ‘Agnipath’ scheme as treachery to the youth of India, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday slammed the BJP government and demanded immediate roll back of its decision.

Addressing a press conference here, Chief Spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang said that the ‘Agnipath’ scheme is against national interest and it has led to violent agitations across the country.

Condemning the recent decision of the NDA government, Kang said that there must not be any vested interest of the government to ensure that the spirit of patriotism of army officials and countrymen remains intact.

He said that due to this cavalier attitude of the union government, the youth of the country have come on roads to protest against this irresponsible move of the centre.

Lashing out at the BJP government, AAP chief spokesperson said that over two lakh vacancies are vacant in the army and the recruitment process should be started at once.

Kang said that a special session of Parliament or an all-party meeting should be called to discuss the whole matter related to defence before implementing any such schemes in the future.

Meanwhile, approved by the PM-led cabinet committee on security, the Union government announced to recruit all new soldiers only for four years, however, the scheme has faced massive protests from army aspirants across the country.
