AAP strongly condemns the deadly attack on MLA Jai Singh Rori

Date:

Chandigarh, December 22
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has strongly condemned the deadly attack on state MLA Jai Singh Rori on Tuesday night, calling it a political conspiracy. The party said that due to poor law and order situation in Punjab, the morale of the criminals was high but the Congress government was embroiled in a bitter feud and failed miserably in maintaining law and order. The irony is that in Punjab, a state known for its communal peace and brotherhood, no one is safe today; Guru, Gurudwara, common people and legislator members selected by these people.

In a joint statement issued from the party headquarters on Wednesday, AAP Deputy Leader of Opposition Sarabjit Kaur Manunke, Aman Arora, Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Prof. Baljinder Kaur, Meet Hayer and Amarjit Singh Sandoya (all MLAs) said that the deadly attack on AAP MLA Jai Singh Rori from Garhshankar proves that there is no such thing as law and order in the state. The leaders said that Aam Aadmi Party will stand by MLA Jai Singh like a rock and the party workers would retaliate against the goons who attacked him.

Sarabjit Kaur Manunke, MLA and Deputy Leader of the Opposition, alleged that the Congress government was creating an atmosphere of fear and intimidation in the state. She said that the religious institutions in the state as well as the representatives of the common man were being attacked under a calculated conspiracy as the Congress government wanted to increase the vote share by creating an atmosphere of fear. He said that ruling Congress, Capt. Amarinder Singh, Badal and Bharatiya Janata Party are jointly targeting AAP leaders.

Senior leaders and MLAs Aman Arora and Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi does not get tired of making big claims that law and order was good in Punjab but the truth was that MLA Jai Singh Rori was fatally attacked at night. He said that the Channi government was playing a game of putting the Police officers in and out of the chair due to which the Channi government had no control over the law and order situation in the state.

AAP leaders said that the Aam Aadmi Party posed a major political challenge to the ruling Congress in Punjab. So while the paid thugs are hurting religious sentiments, they are also trying to intimidate AAP workers and leaders by attacking people’s representatives. He said that Aam Aadmi Party was the political class of the common man of Punjab and such goons could not impose pressure on them.

The AAP leaders said that all the traditional parties have united against the Aam Aadmi Party and its leaders in the same way as they did during the 2017 elections, fearing the overwhelming support of the people for the Aam Aadmi Party. He said that leaders of ruling Congress, Badal, Captain and BJP and other traditional parties had resorted to such petty moves to prevent Aam Aadmi Party from coming to power in 2022 but this time the people of Punjab were against these rogue forces. They will give blunt answers. The leaders said that if there was an impartial and timely inquiry into the attack on Jai Singh Rori, the strings of attackers would prove to be directly linked to these traditional parties.

AAP leaders have demanded from Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Home Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Punjab Police DGP siddhartha chattopadhyay that the assailants who attacked MLA Jai Singh Rori be arrested as soon as possible and strict action be taken against them.
