Abhay Chautala makes insinuating allegations against Ajay, says seats were sold

Date:

Chandigarh, February 6: Exposing skeletons in its closet, Leader of Opposition Abhay Chautala on Wednesday revealed before the state-level meeting of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) that party tickets were sold in the 2014 state Assembly election.

“Your government would have come in 2014. We didn’t disclose you a few things. Some people have sold Assembly tickets in the 2014 poll. Fatehabad, Ateli and Ballabhgarh seats were sold for Rs 50 lakh each,” he told workers.

Later in the press conference, he blamed Ajay Singh Chautala for selling tickets and back-stabbing. Dushyant Chautala failed to respond to calls and SMS-es.

Abhay also alleged that “saudebazi (striking bargains)” was done in the 2014 Lok Sabha poll to ensure the victory of Dushyant Chautala from the Hisar seat. “To ensure his son’s (Dushyant) victory, he (Ajay) struck a deal with Capt Abhimanyu, OP Dhankar and Naveen Jindal. People were called on phone to work for adversaries. People who sell tickets, however, never get successful in politics,” he added.

State president of the INLD Ashok Arora, Sirsa MP Charanjeet Singh Rori and former minister Ram Pal Majra were also present in today’s meeting.

Speaker after speaker dismissed the Jind byelection defeat as a minor development, called Digvijay and Dushyant traitors and exhorted workers to stand behind Abhay and Om Prakash Chautala.

Abhay cautioned party workers against attempts by the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) to lure them into its fold. “Some of our members have been approached to join them (JJP). They are being told that they are having an alliance with another party and they will give them MP tickets. He (Dushyant Chautala) sits with our Sirsa MP Charanjit Singh Rori in Parliament and as he has nothing else to do so, he continues to ask him to join them,” he said.

“Whenever people have tried to weaken the INLD, they bite the dust and their political existence gets over,” he added.
