Accredited Punjab journalists to get Rs 12,000 monthly pension

Date:

Chandigarh, March 2: The Punjab Cabinet led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday gave approval to grant pension of Rs.12000/- per month to the state’s journalists who are accredited by the Department of Information and Public Relations.

With this decision, the government has conceded a long-pending demand of the journalist fraternity.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that according to the proposal approved by the State Cabinet, journalists working with the State of Punjab, who are above 60 years of age and who have been accredited for five years out of the last six years, shall be given a financial assistance of Rs.12,000/- per month.

Appreciating the difficulties of their job, the Chief Minister had earlier given an assurance to journalists in this regard, which the Cabinet approval has fulfilled.
