Agri dept sets up state control to facilitate farmers, will function 8-8

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 29: The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department has established a state control room to resolve the grievances and issues related to farmers amid curfew/lockdown period due to COVID-19.

Disclosing this here today a Spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has directed the Agriculture Department to come up with a state control room in view of ensuing Rabi Marketing Season for hassle free wheat harvesting operations besides marketing of farmers produce.

He said that the Chief Minister, who is personally monitoring the preparedness of upcoming wheat season, had already directed the Department to ensure elaborate arrangements well in advance before the harvesting and arrival of crop in the state Mandis.

He said the State Government had also made requisite arrangements for needful stock of seeds, fertilizers and insecticides for the Kharif season. He said that the Department had also been directed to ensure prompt resolution of the grievances of farmers through control room.

Meanwhile, the Additional Chief Secretary Development Viswajeet Khanna informed that the Agriculture Officers had been deputed at Control Room with their mobile numbers to enable the farmers to contact them for various issues related to agriculture.

Giving details about the functioning of Control Room, the ACS Development further pointed out that the officer would  listen to the issues of farmers at Control Room from 8 am and 8 pm and get their issues redressed in minimal time.

The farmers can contact Agriculture Development Officer Vikram Singh on his numbers 98155-20190, 79730-82185 for the availability of seeds. Similarly, for availability of fertilisers, ADO Inputs Girish (94782-71833) and Chief Fertilisers Inspector Gurjit Singh Brar 80546-00004 can be contacted.

Likewise, in case of the availability of insecticides farmers can contact Agriculture Development Officers Pankaj Singh 94630-73047, for irrigation water Hydrologist Jaswant Singh 87258-27072 can be contacted.

Apart from these, the farmers can contact Engineer Rajan Kumar Dhall 98551-02604 for issues related to agri machinery besides Agriculture Development Officer (Information)Surinder Singh 98146-65016 had been deputed at Control Room for the sowing of crops and other technical information.

The Spokesperson further informed that the farmers  can also contact on Kisan Call Centre 1800-180-1551 for any query regarding agriculture and farming issues.
