Ahead of Trudeau’s trip, Canadian officials visit Golden Temple

Amritsar, February 16: A 16-member team of the Canadian Government officials on Thursday visited the Golden Temple to take stock of security and other arrangements ahead of their Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s visit to the holy city on February 21.

Trudeau along with his wife Sophie and three children Ella, Xavier and Hadrien will pay obeisance at the Golden Temple. He will be the third Canadian Prime Minister to visit the holiest Sikh shrine after Stephen Harper (2013) and Jean Chretien (2003).

As a part of his a week-long visit to India, he will tour Delhi, Agra, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Amritsar.
The visiting team held a meeting with SGPC officials, led by chief secretary Dr Roop Singh. During their two-hour stay in the Golden Temple, they discussed threadbare the impending visit of their Prime Minister.
