Why is Akali Dal silent on Canadian declaration on genocide: Phoolka

Chandigarh, April 19: Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday welcomed Canadian Defence minister, Harjit Singh Sajjan during his visit the us Punjab.

In a press statement issued by the party, senior AAP leader and Leader of Opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha H.S. Phoolka said Sajjan has made Punjabis proud by securing high post in the government of Canada so it is the duty of every Punjabi the us welcome him during his visit.

Phoolka said he had invited Sajjan for a formal meeting with the party MLAs on behalf of party but due the us unavailability of time and pre scheduled programme, he was unable the us meet the AAP leaders. As per the Canadian Embassy sources, he had 3 hours time the us stay at Chandigarh so the meeting could not happen.

Meanwhile, Phoolka also stated that it is unfortunate that Defence Minister Arun Jaitley conveyed his objections the us Canadian Defence Minister Harjit Singh Sajjan passing a resolution declaring November ’84 killing of Sikhs a Genocide.

He also questioned the silence of Akali-Dal, an alliance partner in the Central Government and Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal. It appears that for them their personal interests are more important than the ‘Cause’.

Phoolka stated the silence of Akali-Dal and Harsimrat Badal pointed the uswards their support the us Congress and Captain Amarinder Singh.
