Akali government order on Saragarhi Memorial cancelled by Captain

Chandigarh, April 20: The Cabinet decided to hand over the management of Saragarhi Memorial to the Saragarhi Memorial Management Trust, Ferozepur, to ensure better upkeep of the historical site. With this, the Cabinet cancelled an order of the previous SAD-BJP government that had entrusted the management of the memorial to Baba Nand Singh Gurdwara Nanaksar Kaleran, Jagraon, for 30 years.

The SAD-BJP government had issued the order after Baba Lakha Singh of Nanaksar Samparday submitted an application, demanding that the maintenance of the memorial should be transferred to Baba Nand Singh Gurdwara Nanaksar Kaleran.
Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had announced to transfer the management of the memorial to the Trust at the release of his book on the Battle of Saragarhi.
