Amarnath Yatra attack: Cong demands sacking of Mehbooba govt

Date:

Jammu, July 13: Accusing the PDP-BJP government of compromising with security, the Congress on Thursday demanded sacking of the Mehbooba Mufti government. The party observed that the state government had failed on all fronts and it was high time it was sacked.

Addressing a joint press conference, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) leaders Sham Lal Sharma, Raman Bhalla, Ravinder Sharma, Vikram Malhotra and Manmohan Singh said the attack on Amarnath Yatra had substantiated the allegations that the government had compromised with security.

“The sooner this government goes, better it is in the interests of the country and the state,” said Sham Lal Sharma. He said the attack on Amarnath pilgrims was the result of a major security lapse.Pointing to Wednesday’s incident in Keran sector of Kupwara in which two soldiers belonging to Jammu died, PCC spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said the situation on the border is deteriorating with each passing day.
