Amritsar votes have golden opportunity to teach Navjot Sidhu and Bikram Majithia a lesson: Cheema

Date:

Chandigarh, January 27

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Senior Leader and Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema appealed to the voters of Guru Ki Nagari Amritsar saying that they have a golden opportunity to teach a lesson to both, Navjot Singh Sidhu and Bikram Singh Majithia. He said that both of these leaders have betrayed the people of Punjab. It may be recalled that for Amritsar East Punjab Legislative Assembly seat, Navjot Singh Sidhu is contesting for Congress, Bikram Singh Majithia, Akali Dal Badal and Aam Aadmi Party has fielded prominent social worker Jeevan Jyot Kaur.

Cheema further said that in a democracy, people have power of vote. Therefore the people of Amritsar East including the whole of Punjab will deliver a strong message to the leaders of Akali Dal, who were responsible for sacrilege incidents and drugs mafia in the state and Congress leaders, who disrespected Gurbani with their false religious oaths and patronage mafias and people will vote these leaders out of the power.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters on Thursday, Harpal Singh Cheema said, “PPCC president Navjot Singh Sidhu has been a cabinet minister in the Congress government but he has neither developed his constituency nor solved the problems of the people.” He said that earlier Navjot Singh Sidhu had been a member of Lok Sabha from Amritsar Sahib for about 15 years for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and his wife Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu was MLA and Parliamentary Secretary during SAD-BJP government in the state.

Cheema alleged that the Sidhu family, which had always been in power, never valued the sentiments of the people of Amritsar and put their own interests first. A Member of Parliament and Parliamentary Secretary were from the same family, despite that, Sidhu family has not brought a single major project in Amritsar. Sidhu family did nothing for the families who lost their lives in the Dussehra train accident. He said that Navjot Singh Sidhu has no moral right seek votes from the voters of Amritsar East.

About SAD leader Birkam Majithia contesting from Amritsar East, Harpal Singh Cheema said, “Birkam Majithia has been Cabinet Minister of Punjab for almost 10 years during SAD-BJP government. But instead of public service and development, Majithia has destroyed Punjab and Punjab’s youth. A case is registered against Bikram Majithia in the drug mafia and he’s tarnished Majha’s image. Industries were wiped out of this area and people are left unemployed.” AAP leader said that Bikram Majithia, who’s anticipatory bail was denied in drugs case, on what ground he’ll ask for votes in Amritsar.

Harpal Cheema said that Shiromani Akali Dal Badal in Punjab was embroiled in allegations of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, shooting Sikhs and support of three agricultural laws against farmers. The atrocities committed by Akali Dal against the farmers, laborers, women and students of Punjab have not yet been forgotten. Therefore the people of Amritsar East including the people of the state have decided to keep Shiromani Akali Dal Badal and Bikram Majithia out of power.

Harpal Singh Cheema said that people of Punjab and voters of Amritsar East constituency have seen Akali Dal, Congress, Bhartiya Janata Party, Capt. Amarinder Singh along with Navjot Sidhu and Bikram Majithia and none of them delivered on the expectations of the people. Cheema claimed that the people of Punjab have made up their minds to elect Aam Aadmi Party government in the state. Therefore, the voters of Amritsar East constituency must cast their precious vote to AAP candidate, an eminent social worker Jeevan Jyot Kaur so that Navjot Sidhu and Bikram Majithia can be taught a lesson.
