Receiving a yet another jolt, the famous Punjabi singer Sharry Mann has been removed as the brand Ambassador of MC Swachh Bharat Campaign by Chandigarh Municipal Corporation and has been replaced by Meet Niman.
Earlier, Enforcement Directorate (ED) had issued summons to singer and ordered him to appear in court.
During a raid at an immigration firm in Mohali, ED recovered documents mentioning Mann’s name and mobile number. He had been asked to appear on January 4.
Lecturer by profession and a social activist Prof. Pandit Rao Dharennavar had given demand letter to MC Commissioner, Chandigarh to remove Mann from the post.
Dharennavar had already started a drive against such ‘antisocial’ songs and if the singers and lyricists of such songs failed to admit their guilt and also lodged a legal case against them in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Promoting drugs, alcohol and flaunting weapons were maligning the reputation of hardworking Punjabis, who brought green revolution in the country Pandit Rao had said earlier.
