Chandigarh, November 29: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wedneaday accused the Capt Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government of shielding the Badal family to flourish their transport business in the state.
“Indo-Canadian transport, owned by the Badal family, is violating the Motor Vehicle Act while ferrying passengers from various cities of Punjab to Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi,” said the Leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha Harpal Singh Cheema.
Cheema, addressing press conference along with party MLAs Aman Arora, and Prof Baljinder Kaur, said that the Badal family is using contract carriage permit as stage carriage permit to ferry passengers from different cities of Punjab to Delhi Airport. “All the illegal work is being done in compliance with Capt Amarinder,” he said.
AAP leaders said that the Badal family, during its 10 years of government, has violated all rules to flourish their own transport business and failed the state transport. “The people of Punjab choose Capt Amarinder with an expectation that he will take action against the Badals. But, rather than working against them, he compromised and failed the State,” alleged Cheema.
He said that Indo-Canadian buses, reaching IGI Airport, are violating the rules as they are using contract carriage licence while collecting the passengers from different cities and even through online booking. “As per the guidelines of contract carriage permit, these buses cannot even enter the bus stands of cities to board the passengers but Indo-Canadian buses are violating this clause as well,” they alleged.
AAP leaders said that it is the high time that Capt Amarinder Government must take action against the transport mafia being operated by the Badals to stop the loot of people of Punjab and reinstall the glory of Punjab Roadways.
