Bathinda lynching: Villagers accuse police of forcing compromise

Date:

Bathinda, June 13: Two days after Bhagi Wander sarpanch, her two sons and 10 aides were booked for lynching a man on suspicion of supplying drugs, a villager on Monday alleged the police were pressuring him to make the victim’s family reach a compromise in the case.

The accused are yet to be arrested for the Thursday lynching. Gora Singh said he was picked from his house at about 8:30am and taken to the Talwandi Sabo police station, where cops accused him of harassing a woman.

He said he has been supporting victim Vinod Kumar’s family and even attended his cremation, because of which police were intimidating him. Talwandi Sabo DSP Barinder Singh denied the allegation.

He said Gora was taken to the police station on a complaint against him and was released after questioning.
