Chandigarh, February 25
Member of Parliament from Sangrur and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President Bhagwant Mann today released a WhatsApp number 9877847778 for Punjabis stranded in Ukraine and their relatives so that people can contact him to seek help. Bhagwant Mann has assured them of all possible help. Bhagwant Mann said that students from different districts of Punjab were studying in Ukraine and their parents were concerned about the safety of their children.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has left more than 18,000 Indians stranded, and most of them are students. Bhagwant Mann had earlier demanded from the Modi government to bring back all the students stranded in Ukraine free and safe. Bhagwant Mann said that the attitude of the central government towards this issue was disappointing, first there were complaints from parents about non-cooperation of the Indian Embassy in Ukraine and then triple air tickets prices by private airlines and now so many Indians were stranded there amid war.
