Bhullar directs to speed up process of bringing uniformity in salaries of Punjab Roadways, PRTC staff

Punjab Transport Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar today assured the representatives of Punjab Roadways/PRTC Contract Workers Union that the process of bringing uniformity and implementing due increase in their salaries is going expeditiously.

Presiding over the meeting of the Union at Punjab Bhawan here, the Transport Minister said that the case to bring uniformity and increase in salaries is with the Finance Department. After the objections raised by the Finance Department, the reply has also been submitted by the officials of the Transport Department. The Cabinet Minister categorically asked Secretary Transport S. Dilraj Singh Sandhawalia to write a letter to the Finance Department and personally follow the matter so that it could be resolved at the earliest.

On the issue of delay in depositing the due amount of EPF and ESI by the contractor, the Cabinet Minister said that the department has issued a penalty notice to the contractor, after which he also deposited the due amount. He instructed the Secretary to ensure that the contractor won’t commit any negligence in future which could cause difficulties in getting salaries and medical facilities to the employees.

The Transport Minister also assured that the rest of the demands of the employees are also being considered speedily. Referring to the demands of the employees such as regularizing contractual employees after abolishing contract system and enacting employees’ service rules, S. Laljit Singh Bhullar said that Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Mann led government is ensuring the well being of every category. All these matters will be resolved in the near future after the report of the cabinet sub-committee.

Prominent amongst other who were present in the meeting included Secretary Transport S. Dilraj Singh Sandhawalia, Director Punjab Roadways Ms. Amandeep Kaur and other officials of Transport and Finance departments.
