Amritsar, August 23: Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh on Tuesday appeared in a local court in connection with the defamation case filed by former Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia. The next date of hearing is September 28.
While party convener Arvind Kejriwal has already been granted exemption from personal appearance, Ashish Khetan too has got relief due to his over occupancy in Delhi byelections from a place where he happened to be in charge, confirmed their lawyer Parminder Singh Sethi.
Majithia reiterated his challenge to them for a day-to-day hearing. “I dare them to stick to what they say outside the court. Inside the court, they twisted their statements. Kejriwal has even denied that he ever held ‘nukkad meetings’ in Amritsar or made defamatory remarks about me. But I will expose them,” he said.
Sanjay Singh said AAP would abide by the court orders. “We are not running away from court proceedings. The charges against Majithia were based on facts. There is substantial evidence to prove that. The onus lies on the Congress government to investigate the matter and bring out the truth,” he said.
