A Brampton teenager is one of three people who have been charged with attempted murder following a shooting in northern Ontario.
Manitoulin OPP responded to a shooting at a home in Espanola on Thursday, Jan. 21. The victim was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound.
Several people were reportedly seen running from the house after the incident. OPP and Greater Sudbury Police Service tactical officers arrested three people shortly after.
Jayline Bastein, a 19-year-old from Brampton, is one of three people charged with attempt to commit murder using a restricted or prohibited firearm and break, enter a place with intent to commit indictable offence.
Jaisha Mesquito, a 20-year-old from Markham, and Jaedyn Williams, an 18-year-old of no fixed address, are facing the same charges.
The accused individuals were remanded into police custody after appearing at the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Espanola on Friday, Jan. 22.
Police are still searching for two more suspects who were reportedly seen leaving the home after the shooting.
The first suspect is described as a heavyset man, wearing light-coloured cargo pants and a blue jacket with a hoodie. The second suspect is described as a man who was wearing a brown jacket and black toque.
