BSF seizes 2.4-kg heroin stashed in a tractor at Indo-Pak border

Date:

Amritsar, July 12: In a joint operation with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the BSF on Wednesday seized 2.4 kg of heroin stashed in a tractor drawbar lying unclaimed in the fields near the barbed fence at Rear Kakkar Border Outpost along the India-Pakistan border.

Earlier on July 1, the security personnel had recovered three tractor drawbars filled with the contraband.

Sachin Guleria, Superintendent, NCB, Amritsar, said a tip-off was shared with 17 Battalion, BSF, by one Ram Tirath regarding the concealing of heroin in tractor drawbars, known as “phathi”.

Taking instant action, the BSF and the NCB planned a joint search operation under the supervision of Commandant RC Sharma in which two tractor drawbars were spotted. On cutting it open, 2.410 kg of heroin was recovered.

Further investigation to find out the source of origin and destination of the contraband was in progress, Guleria added.
