Hoshiarpur, April 30: “There have been record seizures and the quantities of narcotics seized by Punjab Frontier in the past one year have been more than ever.
This has happened with the help of the Punjab Police and the Narcotics Control Bureau. We are also thankful to the people who helped us and gave us information”.
BSF Western Command chief ADG Kamal Nayan Choubey said this when he was asked about the efficacy of steps being taken to control cross-border smuggling of narcotics.
Choubey had come to review the passing-out parade at BSF STC Kharkan, 16 km from the district headquarters. Asked about the technical upgrade of the force for border dominance, he said, “Technology should be an integral part of border dominance. For it, the BSF has several pilot projects running under CIBMS (Comprehensive Integrated Border Management Systems).
Two of the projects are being run in Jammu. On accessing the efficacy and the results of these projects, the BSF will adopt new technology.” He said that in order to stop infiltration, multilayered border dominance is needed.
