Phagwara, December 9: Ashish Kumar, a BTech student of Lovely Professional University (LPU), Phagwara, was murdered while his friend Aman Kumar sustained serious injuries when they were attacked by six persons with sharp-edged weapons in Udham Singh Nagar on Thursday night. Ashish belonged to Meghalaya while Aman is a resident of Bihar.
The police said seven students, all studying BTech at the university, were celebrating the birthday of their friend Rishav at a paying guest accommodation when their neighbours objected to the celebrations at midnight and asked the students to stop the loud noise. When the students refused to stop, the assailants attacked them with wooden rods and allegedly pelted them with stones.
Ashish and Aman were taken to the local Civil Hospital where doctors declared Ashish brought dead while Aman’s condition was stated to be serious.
Phagwara SP Parminder Singh Bhandhal said a case had been registered under Sections 302 and 34 of the IPC against Nasib Chand, his brother Ashok, son Rahul and grandson Abhishek, who were absconding.
