Chandigarh, May 28: The bullet-riddled body of a budding Punjabi singer, Navjot Singh (22), was found in Dera Bassi near Chandigarh late Sunday night.
Navjot Singh, who had recently released two singles, was on his way to meet his parents in Behra village. His body was found past midnight at a vacant plot near a factory, about 50 meters away from where his car was parked.
Singh was staying in a flat in Eco Towers in Mohali and had called his mother at 11:15 pm, informing her that he will be home in about 5 minutes.
When he did not reach, the family started calling him and launched a search for him. They found his Micra car parked near a factory near Behra village with the back door open. Singh’s body was found nearby with 4-5 bullet marks.
Dera Bassi station house officer (SHO) Mohinder Singh said, “The body has been kept in the mortuary and postmortem is under way. A murder case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered.”
