By announcing some new posts, Captain government jests with unemployed youth of Punjab: Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer

Date:

Chandigarh, March 26, 2021

Reacting to the announcement of new government posts by the Punjab government, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that Captain Amarinder Singh was betraying the youth of Punjab by creating nominal posts. In a statement issued from the party headquarters, AAP youth wing president and MLA Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said that Captain Amarinder Singh had come to power by promising to give jobs to every household, but now after four years was claiming for the welfare of youth by giving 1,000-2,000 jobs. “The Captain government has jested with the unemployed youth of Punjab by coming up with such a small number of vacancies. This announcement by Captain government is a kind of jumla,” he added. Hayer said that Captain government was trying to mislead the youth by coming up with such small number of vacancies in the last year of his rule, whereas today lakhs of youth of Punjab were suffering from unemployment. He said that before the 2017 elections, Captain Amarinder Singh had sworn in Sri Gutka Sahib ji, that he would give jobs to the youths of every household, but now he is retracting his promises.

He said that Captain Amarinder Singh promised to provide ‘Ghar-Ghar Rozgar’, stating that unemployment allowance would be given until the job was found, but neither the youth got employment nor the unemployment allowance. Hayer said that the Captain government abolished thousands of government vacancies in the name of restructuring the departments instead of giving jobs to the youth. “Captain has closed the doors of government jobs for the youth of Punjab forever. Today the youth of Punjab are sitting unemployed even after spending lakhs of rupees on their education,” he added. He said that the unemployed teachers of Punjab had been struggling on the streets for a long time and the Captain government wants to end their struggle instead of accepting their demands.

“It is very unfortunate that there are not enough teachers in government schools to teach students and teachers are taking to the streets for employment. But Captain government is silent on this,” said Hayer. He said that after the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, a large number of youths of Punjab will be given employment. The AAP leader said that the youth will not have to hit the road for jobs and every youth of Punjab will be given a job to the best of their ability.
